Gearing Up for 2007
At The Dance Place, we're looking forward to an Exciting New Year of rewarding fun centered around dance! We wish you the very best in 2007, and hope you include dancing - and The Dance Place! - in your activities list.
Some of our group classes start up this week, like the Kids Learn to Ballroom Dance at 6pm on Wednesday (today!), January 3, 2007. That class is for youngsters between 8 and 15 years old although we will accept youngsters outside of that age range and we plan to split the class into closer-in-age-groups once we get things underway. Half the class is on "ballroom" dances such as Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot & Quickstep and the other half is on Latin/Rhythm dances like Rumba, Jive, Cha-cha-cha, Samba & Paso Doble. Not all of those dances are taught each week, but they do all get covered eventually.
Another class gearing up this week is the Ballroom Essentials class that will start 4 weeks on Swing at 7pm this Friday, January 5, 2007. Swing is a fun dance that is quite easy to learn and do, so come on in and join us!
Other classes will start up next week, including all our Salsa classes, some stretch and tone classes, other Ballroom and Latin classes and some on Country Western (C&W). If you have an interest in C&W, make note of the change in times for the Sunday classes, which are now 2 hours earlier than in the past.
Some of the classes are for a particular age group, like the Kids Learn to Dance, the Kids Hip Hop class and Lisa D'Amico's Teen Swing class. Others are for a particular style, like International, Country Western or American, and some are for people who are thinking of becoming a dance instructor, like the Learn to Teach Dance courses on Mondays and Saturdays.
As you can see, we offer a large variety of dance classes. To view the complete schedule, look at the calendar on our web site: www.the-dance-place.com. You will surely find a class that fits into your particular interests.
If class lessons aren't your "thing", remember that we also offer 1-on-1 training in what are called private lessons. Those lessons can be set up at times convenient to you, and you can work on a variety of dances during each lesson, instead of just 1 or 2 as is done in a group class. Additionally, you can spend as much - or as little - time as you like on a particular step or dance, and can even get into nuances of style, leg and foot actions and other details that there just isn't time for in the class lessons.
We also work with wedding couples and are happy to choreograph a "first dance" to your special song.
On Friday evenings, we offer our Practice Party from 8 - 10 PM. We play a variety of music, probably some tunes you've learned to dance to, and even have a Samba Line Dance at least once during each party. Come on down and spend an alcohol and smoke free evening with friends and, at the same time, meet some new folk while practicing those swanky dance moves you've been working on!
When we say The Dance Place has something for everyone, we mean it!
Happy Dancing
