22 Million People watched Dancing with the Stars

A large percentage of those people are now interested in taking dance lessons.

Phone lines at dance studios are ringing constantly with inquiries about dance lessons for children, teens, young adults, singles, wedding couples, for seniors and for groups.

Dance studio web sites are getting more "hits" than ever, and email inquiries for dance lessons are piling up faster than they can be dealt with by dance studios and teachers.

More TV programs involving Ballroom and Latin dancing are planned for the near future. This will cause even greater demand for dance lessons.

There are not enough dance teachers to keep up with the rising demand for dance lessons.

Here is your opportunity to Become a Dance Teacher. Who knows what the future will bring? Perhaps you will soon be Dancing with the Stars.

Phillip Stephens is offering a Become a Teacher course at The Dance Place that will start at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 6, 2005. This 2-hour class will meet every Saturday except on Holiday weekends, and will culminate in a graduation ceremony providing successful participants with a certificate of completion. The course will cover Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, Bolero, Swing and Mambo. In addition to learning the figures, participants will also learn basic footwork, leg actions, arm and hand styling, posture, counting and teaching methods, how to plan lessons, the basics of choreography, and more.

Phillip Stephens has been teaching since 1972. He is a former professional competitor, winning many titles in dance and placing in the finals of numerous dance competitions. Phillip is a Championship level competition judge, and is registered with the National Dance Council of America and the World Dance and Dance Sport Council. He judges many major competitions such as the Ohio Star Ball and the US National Dance Sport Championships. Phillip has worked with John O'Hurley's instructor Charlotte Jorgensen and has judged Rachel Hunter's partner Jonathon Roberts.

In Ballroom dancing, Fellowship is the highest teaching degree attainable. The only position above Fellowship is that of an Examiner, a person who is entitled to conduct dance examinations that confer Associate, Licentiate or Fellowship degrees to professional dance instructors. Phillip Stephens is a member of four dance teaching organizations, holds three Licentiate degrees and eight Fellowship degrees, and is an Examiner for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.
