Become a Highly Trained Dance Educator!
My Learn to Teach Dance courses were first launched in 2005. The courses continue to be very popular but, for some people, it's just too difficult to fit everything in all at one time. So ... I want to let everyone know about the "new" Learn to Teach course format available for people with such hectic schedules that they find it impossible to join a program that involves learning 9 dances all at the same time.
In this new format, one dance per style is taught during each 8-week period. Participants receive intensive training in a single dance so they can fully master that one before moving on to the next dance. At the end of each "mini" course, participants undergo a "test" in that dance. After being "pre-certified" in this manner for each dance in a style, such as American Style Bronze Rhythm, participants will undergo one last dance review in order to receive a certificate of completion.
In as little as 32 weeks, you can be ready to step out onto the dance floor as a confident teacher, knowing you've had high-quality training in that particular style and level of dance and that you have a certificate attesting to that fact.
Classes covering the American style Smooth dances [ Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango and Viennese Waltz ] are scheduled to meet at 10am on Saturday mornings each month. The American Rhythm classes [ covering Rumba, Cha-cha, Bolero, Swing and Mambo ] are also scheduled to meet at 11am on Saturday mornings each month. The first class in "Smooth" will cover Foxtrot. The first class in "Rhythm" will cover Rumba.
The first 3 Saturdays in April are "introduction" days and 2 dances will be covered in each of these classes, 2 Smooth dances in the 10am class and 2 Rhythm dances in the 11am class. This will give everyone an overall picture of the dances in the course and, because of the "introductory" nature of the classes, tuition is payable weekly in the amount of $20 per each class attended. The "courses proper" will begin on Saturday, April 28, 2007, and the format should remain constant thereafter.
In the very near future, courses will also be available for the International "Standard" dances [ Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep & Tango ] and for the International Latin dances [ Rumba, Cha-Cha-Cha, Samba, Paso Doble & Jive ].
This is a great way for busy people to learn to become Ballroom/Standard and Rhythm/Latin Dance Educators! You can sign up for just one style of dance, or all of them. For busy people, having only one "subject" to cover in each style just makes life that much less complicated! And, even if you happen to be one of those "type A" people who are into over achievement and you sign up for all available styles, you will still only be studying a maximum or 4 dances at any one time.
Tuition for each 8-week course is very affordable. The fee is $160 and is based on a minimum of 4 participants in each class. Half of the fee is paid at the beginning of the course and the other half is paid on week 5. Intensive courses can be set up for just 1, 2 or 3 participants (pricing available upon request).
It is advisable to bring notebooks and writing implements to class. Other cost factors will be study manuals and dance shoes, but those are items that can be purchased as needed.
All classes are taught at The Dance Place, 3300 Chimney Rock, suite 500, Houston, TX, 77056. Our phone number is 713-266-0066
